Check out the site...Wizards article about the "new" magic.

http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/feature/27a

Thoughts on how this is going to change the game...judging...just being a part of the game.

Personally....ugh

Anyone want to jump into the nightmare while the water is still warm?

I am curious about your reasons for your ugh. Is it because of the naming convention, or the concept of  all the "new" cards?

As for my opinion, this doesn't seem to me like the best time for WotC to radically change the way they've been doing things(seems like I'm saying that a lot recently). Who knows when the world economy will take a turn for the better, so Wizards is planning to increase the product they're going to put out each year? Huh Huh

The biggest reason for the UGH is because of the "business" aspect.  I have hard enough time keeping current standard stock in hand with out killing myself with overhead.  Core sets every other year helps me because of the reprints.  Now losing half of that...causes my overhead to go up and the margin of profit to go down. Embarrassed  No, I don't own a storefront per-se, but I am a broker. (buy, sell, and trade)

I am not fond of the "mythic" being printed in every core set.  They are already a pain to keep in stock, now adding them to the "core" set as well? Lips sealed

Maybe the overall metagame will change and maybe it will bring in new players, but will it be at the loss of the "old school" players?  What kind of effect will have on drafts?   Undecided

It is a challenge to keep up on the rules as it is, but now with the overall dynamics of the core set changing, will the rules change every year with additional mechanics to reflect additions to the current block or will they throw in new ones every year? (i.e.  "snow" )

There is such a thing as flooding the market.  Look at sports cards, comic books, action figures, and board games.  The almighty dollar has a powerful effect, but at the same time, that same time can kill the market. Angry

I have been playing since Alpha.  I have grumbled along the way with different things, like many others have.   Huh But this is beyond a grumble.

I guess the Ugh stems from what I see as the writing on the wall.  Tongue

I have been in the "collectable" world since I was a kid.  I think of how many chores, odd jobs and various other ways of earning $$ to buy those cards, toys, comics, etc. and now....95% of them are worthless because of this type of "marketing."
