Information below applies to Pastimes Events shows.
For other conventions where Pastimes Events is running events, these policies apply where Pastimes is responsible for those aspects. More information can be found under “Non-Pastimes Events Shows”.
If there is anything we have missed or anything else you’d like to know about our event, please join our Discord server at PastimesEvents.com/Discord or email us.
The enforcement of all show policies are at the sole discretion of Pastimes Events staff.
Here at Pastimes Events, we’re in the business of having fun and as every gamer knows, a thorough rulebook is the key to everyone having a good time, so here are our rules for safe and fun Pastimes Events. If you have a question about a certain policy or guideline, be sure to read through all of our policies, but if that still doesn’t answer your question, please join our Discord server at PastimesEvents.com/Discord or email us.
Put Fun First
Competition is a part of games, but win or lose, we keep it friendly, respectful, and fun.
Everyone is Welcome
Our community includes a range of diverse people. No matter who sits down at the table with us, we make them feel welcome.
Keep it Clean, Physically and Verbally
We’re all caretakers of the game experience and that includes the spaces we play in. Each of us should help to maintain a clean and safe environment for all.
Obey the Rules
We follow all event rules in order to create an experience everyone can enjoy.
Everyone should observe common sense rules for behavior, personal interaction, courtesy, and respect. Harassing or offensive behavior will not be tolerated. Pastimes Events reserves the right to remove from our space, without refund, any participant not in compliance with this policy.
There is no advertising of any kind at a Pastimes Events show* without prior permission from Pastimes Events. If caught, you may be asked to leave the show or event without any refunds.
*Wearing a T-Shirt representing a store or playing with a playmat / sleeves with store logo / name is OK. Passing out fliers, cards, or other items without permission is NOT OK.
Trading is, of course, permitted at Pastimes Events shows. Everyone is welcome to trade cards with the goal of building decks or collecting their favorite cards.
Trading cards for the primary purpose of gaining value or earning a profit is restricted to those with prior permission from Pastimes Events. In addition, taking up excessive space while trading or transporting excessive amounts of trade stock.
Buying and selling cards with anyone other than official vendors is strictly prohibited.
If you have questions about specifics or seek permission for something that may be construed as advertising, please join our Discord server at PastimesEvents.com/Discord or email us.
If you notice behavior on-site that violates these rules, please inform a Pastimes Events staff member.
Attendees banned from events by Wizards of the Coast or Pastimes Events are not welcome at our show.
If you have further questions, please email us or join our Discord server at PastimesEvents.com/Discord.
Our show or area is all-ages and we ask that costumes reflect that idea (think PG-13). We have created the following guidelines to ensure that everyone has the best experience possible, in and out of costume.
This is a unisex dress code. Clothing requirements are identical for all genders, and size/weight discrimination in dress code will not be tolerated.
Artistic modifications, otherwise known are card alters, are acceptable under the following conditions:
Pastimes Events and/or the Head Judge are the final authority on acceptable cards. If you plan to use altered cards of any sort, please make sure to speak with Pastimes Events staff and/or the Head Judge before the beginning of the event to ensure that your altered cards are approved for play in your event.
Most events run by Pastimes Events are sanctioned by Wizards of the Coast or other game manufacturers, which do not allow proxy cards. In certain situations, a Head Judge may issue a proxy for a card damaged during a tournament.
Proxy cards are any cards not printed by the manufacturer.
In addition for Magic: The Gathering events, cards with non-Magic: The Gathering backs are not legal for sanctioned events.
In open play areas this is fine however, please consult the other players you are playing with.
Please keep drinks on the floor rather than the tables at all times. Spills may damage valuable cards and disrupt games beyond repair. All trash must be thrown out in the proper containers. Do not leave trash on the tables.
Please keep in mind that some event locations enforce a “no outside food and beverage allowed” or “designated eating area” policies.
Pastimes Events Staff and building security reserve the right to inspect all attendees’ props to ensure that no authentic weapons of any kind are brought onto the building’s property or into the building. By attending a Pastimes Event, all attendees expressly agree and consent to this inspection and waive any and all objections. Any and all authentic weapons are strictly prohibited and those found or identified during any such inspection may be confiscated by convention staff and security.
Attendees will be asked to remove any props violating the following:
Are weapons permitted on the premises of the event?
No.
DO NOT bring weapons to an event. Weapons include, but are not limited to, guns, knives, blunt items with no local purpose, and any items brought specifically to harm another individual.
These categories of items make people feel unsafe. If you are caught with such items you’ll be asked to leave the hall immediately and potentially barred from reentry into the convention center or future events altogether.
This policy is at the full discretion of Pastimes Events, convention organizers, and the administration of the event location.
Registration is when attendees can purchase badges and event entries for the show through our online registration system.
Specific dates, prices and other information can be found on the show’s specific page.
We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and PayPal as payment. Cash is accepted for on-site purchases only. Checks and money orders are not accepted at any time. A 10% admissions tax will be charged on all online and on-site badge purchases.
Everyone (excluding children ten and under) attending a Pastimes Events show that requires a badge for entry must wear a valid badge for identification while at the show. A badge is required to register for events and allows the bearer access to the Vendor Row, Artist/Creator Alley, seminars, and other events happening in public areas during one or more days of the show. Badges must be visible at all times to assure staff and security of your eligibility to participate in the show.
Children ten and under are admitted free when accompanied by an attending adult. If your child wishes to participate in an event that requires purchasing an entry, you will need to purchase a badge for them. Children over the age of ten are subject to the standard badge costs. For the children’s protection, parents must register all children ages ten and under at Will Call or Badge Registration kiosks onsite. A wristband will be issued at that time listing the parent or guardian’s contact information. The wristband must be attached to the child’s wrist while at the show in case the child and parent become separated.

Show Hours can be found on on that event’s page.
If you purchased a badge, you may obtain your items at the Will Call desk. You will need to present a valid government-issued photo ID in order to obtain your packet. Small children with no photo ID will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian with a valid ID in order to pick up their items. Please keep in mind Will Call lines and wait times may vary.
You may need to provide additional items as dictated on the event specific page.
Can I play in two events at he same time? You can be registered for multiple events at the same time, but you can only be active in one.
Active means playing games of Magic: The Gathering. Deck construction also counts as ‘active’ for registration purposes.
If you would become active in two events, you will have to choose and drop from one of them.
In clear terms- Do not double queue. If we catch you doing this you’ll be dropped from one of the events and potentially both.

I lost an item at an event! What do I do now?
If you are still onsite, you should attempt the following:
If it is not in the lost & found at that time, you can give us your name & contact information along with a description of the item. That way if it is found during the weekend we are able to contact you and let you know.
I did not realize I had lost anything until I already left for the weekend, what can I do?
For Magic items and accessories (cards, decks, boxes, etc.): please email us or join our Discord server at PastimesEvents.com/Discord providing us with any unique or identifying features about the item.
If you contact us or left us your information and we find your item, we will let you know if we believe we have the item in the L&F inventory. We try to inventory all lost items before packing them for shipment and they eventually are shipped back to our primary warehouse. Once we confirm we have the item we’ll ask for your shipping information and get it back to you at first opportunity.
Please note that while we may believe we have an item based on inventory description, it is often in transport following a show and will need to be unpacked and checked at the primary warehouse before we have 100% confirmation and that there will often be a 1-3 week delay before confirmation / shipping can happen.
For items that are non-Magic in nature (Clothing, glasses, wallet, etc.): At the end of the weekend we leave them with the venue staff. This means you will want to contact the venue via email or phone, typically there is someone assigned to look through the catalog of lost items they have and get back to you.
On-site please talk to a Pastimes Events staff member at the Info Desk.
All refunds will incur a 8.5% processing fee rounded down to the nearest $1.
Prior to the show, please email us.
All convention shows require a badge for the day of the event you want to play in. You can find more details by visiting that convention’s homepage
