Events Communications Associate

What You'll Do

This is a ground-floor position with real growth potential at a company operating on a national stage.

You will support the Pastimes Events team across customer-facing communications channels, helping players get answers, keeping our communities informed, and ensuring our brand voice is consistent and professional on every platform we operate. You will report directly to the President during an initial build period, transitioning to our incoming Director of Business Operations.

This role starts as a part-time contract with a defined path toward full-time for candidates who demonstrate strong judgment, fast learning, and consistent follow-through. That timeline is approximately six months for the right person, and performance can accelerate it.

Your Day-to-Day

Assist the events team with customer service email, responding to player questions related to registration, scheduling, and general event inquiries
Monitor and engage our Discord community, answering questions, posting updates, and keeping players informed during event cycles
Post event announcements, policy clarifications, schedule changes, and promotional content across our social media channels
Support online communications and real-time updates during active event periods
Travel with the team to select events to provide onsite communications and customer service support, approximately 3 to 10 events per year with all travel costs covered
Expand into broader responsibilities as the role and the company’s needs develop

What You'll Need

Required

Genuine enthusiasm for tabletop gaming. You understand the community because you are part of it
Strong written communication skills. Clear, accurate, and professionally on-brand
Fluent on Discord. Community engagement is already a natural part of how you operate
Organized and reliable with the ability to manage multiple channels simultaneously
Sound judgment under pressure. Major event weekends move fast and player emotions run high
Able and willing to travel periodically for events

Preferred

Social media management experience for a brand, organization, or community
Familiarity with Magic: The Gathering, Disney Lorcana, or competitive organized play ecosystems
Prior customer service or community management experience in a gaming context

What We Offer
