Both players will share a sealed pool and build 3 minimum 40-card decks. Constructed:
Both players will bring a format legal deck (Infinity, Core, etc).

Game Play

Players in Team Trios play 3 individual matches that each contribute to the overall teams match result. When a team has two players win their individual matches, the whole team wins the match. This type of team event does not follow the multiplayer simultaneous turns rule set. The individual matches follow the rules of the specific format that is being played. Some Trios events have further deck construction rules or other instructions. For example Constructed Team Trios at DLC Milwaukee 2025 had a further restriction of every Ink color needing to be represented within the team. Always refer to the event listing for specific details.

Example: A Trios match between Team 1 and Team 2 consists of individual match A, B, and C. Both “A” players from the teams play one match, “B” players another and so on. Individual match “A” is won by team number 1, individual match “B” is won by team 2, and individual match “C” is won by team 1. Overall Team 1 reports their match as them winning 2-1. 2 out of the 3 individual matches.

Communication

Players on a team sit next to one another across from the opposing team. Players are allowed to communicate with each other about all information in their individual games. They may share public information as well as private information (their hand, for example) that they have access to. They may ask for play advice. During deck construction for a limited Trios event all players may participate in building all 3 decks.

When a players individual match is completed they may continue to communicate and participate in their teammates ongoing games. If a player must leave the table for any reason, such as a restroom break, they must call for a judge first. As play in their overall teams match may continue without them, extra precautions must be taken to avoid gaining inappropriate information about the other team by their leaving the table. If a player leaves the table unsanctioned or for an extended period of time without justifiable cause, they return to their match as a spectator and may no longer participate in their teammates games.
