Why Play This Format?

Similar to Assassin, Outlaws provides a twist on the multiplayer format by providing secret objectives to each player outside the normal games rules. If anyone has every played the card game Bang! this plays out very similarly but now with Magic.

Play Rules/Modifiers

At the beginning of each game players will be randomly assigned one of the following roles – Sheriff, Renegade, Outlaw, or Deputy. The Sheriff role is public but all other roles are hidden until a win condition is met or a player is eliminated.

Roles
- Sheriff – Starts at 50 life, and goes first. The goal is to be the last player standing.
- Renegade – The goal of the Renegade is to kill everyone.
- Outlaws – The goal of the Outlaw is to kill the Sheriff. If the Sheriff dies, the Outlaws win, regardless of who is still in the game.
- Deputy – The goal of the Deputy is to protect the Sheriff. If the Sheriff and the Deputy are the last two standing, they both win.

In a 5 player game: 1 Sheriff, 1 Renegade, 2 Outlaws, 1 Deputy.

In a 6 player game: 1 Sheriff, 2 Renegade, 2 Outlaws, 1 Deputy

If player’s want to add extra spice to the secret roles in a 6 player game the last role could be assigned randomly and look like the following, so that no one is fully sure who the other’s are:
