Open Build and Play
Deck Building on the spot
Different challenge from a traditional draft
Dynamic Head to Head draft experience
Each player needs 3 boosters per draft.
The players open the packs without looking at the contents and shuffle the packs together after removing all non playable cards ( art cards, tokens, and inserts) creating a combined pool of approx 90 cards. In a stack henceforth called the deck.
Player A and Player B are decided through a random method. Player A drafts first and Player B chooses to play or draw first during the game play.
To Draft, Player A flips the top 8 cards of the deck and divides them into two piles. They can be divided evenly or unevenly. After the cards have been split Player B picks a pile and adds it to their drafted cards. The remaining pile goes to Player A. The process is repeated with Player B separating the top 8 cards from the deck into two piles and Player A selecting a pile. Alternate between A and B until all cards have been drafted. The last batch of cards may vary in number from previous batches.
As many Basic Lands as desired may be added and players build decks of at least 40 cards.
In this format it is possible for players to end up with different size pools and in extreme cases find themselves with very few playable non Basic Land cards. This is just something to keep in mind.
The Four Player Solomon Variant is as above – except – Instead of combining boosters, they are used separately. Each booster is separated into four piles and the players establish a turn order and picking. The player who opened the booster gets last pick. The remainder is the same.
A minimum deck size of 40 cards
Sideboard for your deck is any of the cards
